A chairmanship aspirant in the upcoming election of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara State Council, Babajide Fadeyi Adeolu with the Federal Ministry of Information has inaugurated a campaign team in Ilorin, the state capital.
The event would also signify the campaign flag-off for the aspirant.
Driven by the passion for a peaceful and united union-led me to vie for this post and not a desperate means of survival, Comrade Fadeyi had declared while addressing members from the various chapel.
He said, “As a concerned and passionate member of the NUJ who has been opportune to serve in various capacities which include Chairman, Federal Information Chapel, Financial Secretary of the State Council, Ex-Officio and until recently, the Zonal Secretary of Zone ‘D’, I have come to realize that for our union to progress, we need a united front where every member is given a sense of belonging.”
He furthered, “My plan, as well as hope, is to provide leadership for a project team who will help guide and reshape our union for the betterment of all, especially in this troubled time.”
The Head of the Campaign Team and former Deputy National President of NAWOJ, Hajia Bilkis Oladimeji who read the citation of the chairmanship aspirant described him as a person who has all it takes to move the union forward.
Moreso, Chairman, Heads of Federal Government Establishments in Kwara State and State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Information, Mrs. Omoboriowo called on members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists to support the aspiration of Babajide Fadeyi, describing him as the best choice in the race.
The inauguration was attended by Heads of Federal Government parastatals including the State Director, National Orientation Agency, Segun Adeyemi; State Controller, News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Esan Chairman; Correspondent Chapel, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Garuba as well as journalists that cut across media houses across the state.
