Imo Gov Uzodinma sacks Commissioner of Labour amid NLC’s strike
Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has dismissed his Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Ford Ozumba.
The state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba confirmed the development in a statement released to newsmen on Saturday March 11.
The circumstance that triggered the sack of the commissioner remains unknown, as no reason was given for the decision of the state government.
The Informant247 gathered that the Commissioner’s sack may have come as a result of the ongoing state-wide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The NLC’s statewide strike has paralyzed the public power supply in the state, for the third day now.
The strike has caused the traders of the state to stage a demonstration in front of the state’s government house.
The national president of NLC had directed members to embark on strike, revealing that the state government was interfering in the state’s election of the NLC.
Joe Ajaero, revealed that the Imo State Government “sought to influence the outcome of the elections in the state,” by offering gratifications to the delegates to vote for their “chosen candidates.”
“This meddlesomeness was resisted by the delegates who refused the unholy offerings and baits to vote for their chosen candidates,” he added.
