Ilorin elite group urges Nigerian govt to reverse petrol price hike

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), a leading sociocultural organization in Kwara State, has joined calls for the Federal Government to reverse the recent increase in petrol prices.
In a statement released on Sunday, IEDPU’s national publicity secretary, Nurudeen Ibrahim, argued that reversing the price hike would help restore the diminishing hope of ordinary citizens.
“The ordinary people on the street are becoming increasingly hungry, angry, and frustrated due to the rising costs of goods and services caused by the petrol price adjustment,” the statement said.
The union criticized the price increase as unexpected and unjustifiable, especially with the anticipated arrival of products from the Dangote refinery.
IEDPU emphasized that the security and welfare of citizens should be central to public policy, urging the federal government to reconsider and amend its approach to petrol pricing for the benefit of the masses.
