The Ex-Senate president of Nigeria, Bukola Saraki today made a U-turn to seek out of court settlement with the state government over the lingering ile-Arugbo issue.
Saraki in a letter, obtained by THE INFORMANT27, from his counsel, AA Ibraheem to the state attorney-general, Salman Jawondo said he is ready to “explore” settlement out of court inline with an appeal from Justice Abiodun Adebara.
He further requested the attorney-general to facilitate a meeting for the reconcilation.
The letter read, “We are counsel to the claimant in the above suit on whose behalf and instruction we write you on the above.
“Pursuant to the advice and directive at the court on the above matter that parties should explore settlement, our client has directed to notify you of its disposition to explore settlement with the view to resolve the outstanding dispute between parties in respect of the subject matter in contention.
“Consequently, we hereby request that you should use your good office as the Chief Law Officer of the State to make the necessary arrangements as to time and venue where parties can meet and discuss.
“While trusting that your request herein would be treated with the needed swift attention it deserves, kindly accept the assurances of our esteem regards.
Recall that a High Court sitting in Ilorin, lastweek Wednesday advised all parties in Ile-Arugbo demolition to explore all avenues of out-of-court settlement in the interest of peace and justice.
Justice Abiodun Adebara gave the advice while addressing counsel and parties in the case.
