Ile-Arugbo: Public interest must override personal interest- says Kwara North group
The Kwara North Right and Interest Group (knRIG) has rejected the committee constituted to look into the crises trailing the demolition of Sarakis’ Ile Arugbo.
The group in a message jointly signed by the group’s Chairman, Comrade Kolo Majin Jerry and Publicity Secretary, Mallam Seko Jubril and sent to THE INFORMANT247 declares that “public interest must override personal and group narrow interest”.
The statement read, “It is on this premise that we resolved to outrightly kick against any intent that is tailored at subverting state interest to benefit any individual or groups.
“KnRIG for now, will assume to consider the names flying over social media as a committee to interface on ile – arugbo land of public interest as a suspicious step at trying the waters with one leg or rather what we declare as imaginary and wishful thinking.
Stating their observations, the group said “Ile – arugbo” is not what is in contention, rather, the land upon which the gesture is being conducted.
“The land in dispute, is between the state government and one Asa investment considered to be a private business. I.e (It’s public interest against private interest).”
The group further said that the context is a contest of overriding public interest as against a narrow private benefits.
“We resolve to stand with public interest irrespective who’s ox is gored, no respected Kwaran should associate by forming alliance with any motive that is intended to technically or tactically manipulate public interest.
“Any such committee if need be at all, should be conducted to represent the broader state. Its composition must be inclusive of all the senatorial districts and should not be predicable.
“We are not averse to independent peace making efforts that can and will guarantee protection of public interest, but not any that may attempt to swindle it. We will see such to be very leprous.
“We have resolved to stand by the great virtues to which we have been brought up by our parents and other religious as well individual mentors, to always stand not only by, but for the TRUTH.
“We challenge any interested, but respected Kwaran with conscience to stand by what is morally right and justifiable. Rather than been manipulated to offer undue support tailored or self designed to corner collective interest to satisfy private benefits that is suggestive of immoral corruption.
“Our strong resolve is that, the issue about the ile – arugbo land be better resolved by the Court’s of independent interest to avoid future suspicion and equally put to sleep the matter for once. Kwarans beyond any individual or groups are interested in the issue and anxiously await the final status that must not be seen to be compromised.”
