Ifon/Ilobu crisis: Adeleke warns perpetrators of communal clash, deploys military
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a stern warning to those involved in communal conflicts, emphasizing that they must cease their actions or face legal consequences.
His statement comes in the wake of a recent communal crisis that engulfed the Ilobu and Ifon communities in Osun State.
Governor Adeleke made this declaration during the inaugural interactive session with the state’s residents, titled “Ipade Imole,” held in Osogbo.
He explained that a 24-hour curfew had been imposed on both towns to restore law and order.
The Governor also revealed that leaders from both communities had been summoned to his office to address the ongoing violence, and military personnel had been deployed to the affected areas.
Expressing his dismay over the tragic loss of lives during the communal crisis, Governor Adeleke stated, “I am not happy to be here today due to the communal crisis in Ifon-Orolu and Ilobu, where people have been killed senselessly.”
He went on to stress that he had instructed a joint military task force to take immediate action against those attempting to disrupt the peace of these communities, including the use of lethal force if necessary.
Furthermore, the Governor declared that the state government had assumed control of the disputed lands in the area, warning that anyone found in the vicinity would face appropriate consequences.
