Ifelodun LG chair, Femi Yusuf backs Kwara govt’s security efforts
The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has responded to recent concerns about local security efforts, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the LGA.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulquadri Jimba, the Chairman addressed claims that his government is not doing enough to tackle insecurity.
He clarified that a planned executive meeting with Council Management and local vigilante leaders — originally slated for August 19 — was postponed due to his attendance at a critical security briefing in Ilorin with the Kwara State Governor and national security stakeholders.
“The reason for the postponement was properly communicated, and the Chairman was fully engaged in high-level discussions aimed at improving security,” the statement read.
It also explained that his inaccessibility during the period was due to full involvement in the session.
Yusuf emphasized that security is a shared duty involving government agencies, traditional institutions, and community members.
He praised the Kwara State Government and the Office of the National Security Adviser for their swift and strategic interventions in curbing crime within the state.
He also reassured constituents of his accessibility, stating that he is regularly present at the Secretariat in Share and available to the public except when engaged in official functions.
“We urge residents to remain calm and continue supporting the unified efforts to secure our communities,” the statement concluded.
