I wish you happy political retirement’, Yinka Dallas mocks Akogun’s outcry on APC LG primaries
In the wake of recent comments by Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), regarding the APC primaries and criticisms of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Yinka Dallas Ayeni, the former Local Government Chairman of Ekiti Local Government in Kwara State, has issued a mockery response.
Recall that Akogun Oyedepo lambasted the conduct of the primary elections, alleging widespread irregularities and a lack of transparency.
Oyedepo asserted, “The APC primaries were not free and fair; they were marred by undue influence and manipulation.”
Oyedepo’s remarks were swiftly met with a response from the APC Electoral Committee, which defended the integrity of the electoral process.
Electoral Committee expressed disappointment with Oyedepo’s comments, suggesting that his criticism is as a result of the defeat of his preferred candidate in Isin Local Government.
In what seems like a payback statement, Yinka Dallas who recounted an incident from 2017 when he was campaigning to become the executive chairman of his local government.
He recalled that Oyedepo had accused him of distributing beers as campaign souvenirs during a weekly program on Harmony FM Idofian.
“I can remember vividly in 2017 when I was campaigning to be the executive chairman of my local government, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo was in the Harmony FM Idofian in one of their weekly programs and particularly mentioned my name, accusing me of branding enough beers as souvenirs for the campaign,” Dallas wrote.
He revealed that the accusation was so serious that he considered taking legal action against the General Manager of the radio station for blackmail, a clear violation of broadcasting ethics.
He, however, said he decided against pursuing the matter in court due to the intervention of respected individuals who urged him to let it go.
“As a Christian, I have long forgiven him,” Dallas stated, adding a touch of finality to his response. “I wish him a happy political retirement in the oblivion.”
