I will build on the accomplishments of my predecessor — new GOC

Maj-Gen. Umaru Musa, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army’s 81 Division, stated that he will continue to build on the calm situation left by his predecessor.

On Monday, Umaru announced this during the handover and taking over of the division’s command from the division’s previous GOC, Maj-Gen. Lawrence Fejokwu, in Lagos.

“I am aware that Lagos State is now calm, and I am prepared to guarantee that this peace is improved and maintained,” he stated.

Former Director of Manpower and Planning at Army Headquarters, Umaru, advised employees to stay steadfast, focused, and committed to their tasks.

He stated that the army chief’s objective is to create a professional force ready to carry out assigned operations in a joint environment in defence of the country.
In his remarks, Fejokwu stated that he expected Musa would begin to unload his divisional plans, which would materialise over time.

“Challenging moments will always arise in the form of insecurity, but I am confident that such situations will be averted before they progress further.”

“I’ve instructed him along those lines, and as a seasoned army officer, he’ll know how to go,” he added.

Fejokwu thanked the army commander for the chance to serve as GOC 81 Division, as well as officers and troops for their assistance throughout his service.
