I Inherited a country with serial bombings across cities in 2015 – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has said he came to power to inherit a country, with serial bombings across its cities.
President Buhari made this revelation during the passing-out parade and commissioning event of cadets of regular Course 69 of the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, in Kaduna on Thursday.
He, however, mentioned that his government has been able to put under control the security issues of the country since he became president in 2015.
“When this government came in 2015, we inherited a country at crossroads with bombs going off with frightening frequency even in our cities, and we came in to manage the crisis,” he said.
The Nigerian leader has advised the cadets to put into practice the spirit of social cohesion they got at the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, and be good role models to the Nigerian society.
He added that the cadets joined the security agency at the time of growing global security threats.
The Informant247 gathered that a total of 239 cadets, who include those from other African countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, Niger Republic, Chad, and Uganda are having their passing out ceremony as junior military officers.
In attendance at the passing out ceremony were service chiefs and Usman Alkali, the Inspector General of Police; Ahmed Lawan, Senate President; the governors of Niger and Kaduna States, as well as members of the National Assembly.
