I didn’t demand money from my parents during varsity days — SGF, Boss Mustapha

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has said he refused to request money from his parents when he was a law undergraduate.

He said he sponsored himself when he was studying in school.

He added that this was possible because he had skills in business and this gave him opportunity to make money.

“All through my university days, I had no need to ask my parents for money because I had become self-sufficient.

The nation’s scribe added that: “By the time I was in Part 2 going to Part 3, I had already started work and earning money.”

He said he was already a businessperson when he was in school.

The SGF made this remark while speaking at the Hong Economic Summit, at his former school mater, Government Secondary School (GSS), Hong.

The SGF said: “In the 1970s in this school, we grew everything that we ate, from soya beans to eggs, to vegetables like cucumber, carrot and lettuce.

“We started a Young Farmers Club. We raised pigs here. Every time we wanted to sell our pigs, we would slaughter them.”

“I think I was in Form 3 then, at age 13 or 14; our principal allowed me.

“When holidays were approaching, it was my duty to organise trucks that would take people (with our school produce) to Jos, Gombe, Yola, Mubi, Kano and the rest.”

He has encouraged the youths of Hong who to develop interest for businesses and not to wait allow themselves to be employed by others.
