Hunters search Ekiti forest as gunmen gun down NSCDC officers, kidnap others
Ekiti, Nigeria, September 4 (The Informant247) – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC in Ekiti State on Sunday confirmed the killing of one of its officers and kidnap of some people by some unknown gunmen along Oke Ako – Ajowa road in Ikole local government of the State.
While addressing pressmen in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, on Sunday, the Command spokesperson, Mr Tolu Afolabi revealed that investigation was ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators of the evil act.
He said one of the officers of NSCDC was gunned down yesterday while returning from Ado Ekiti to his home town while others were abducted by gunmen.
A source in the town while confirming the news revealed that the officer, who was coming from Ado Ekiti to his home town, was attacked in his vehicle and gunned down while the gunmen abducted his younger brother and two children with him in the car.
The source revealed that hunters in the neighbouring communities had begun searching the bush in order to arrest the gunmen.
Princess Tinuade Ogunbiyi, The Regent of Oke Ako, revealed that she received the information that somebody was gunned down on the road while others were abducted, saying this unpleasant scenario has been repeating itself on a daily basis.
