Housekeeper in court over alleged theft of N1.6m jewellery
A housekeeper, Blessing Ochong, 27 was on Monday docked in a Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja over alleged theft of her employer’s N1.6million worth jewellery.
The suspect, who lives at 56 Igbehinadu St. Bolade Oshodi, has been charged with theft.
Inspector Glory Goodday, the prosecution counsel, has informed the court that the suspect committed the offence on August 8 at 3, Irepodun St., Oke-Ira, Ogba, Lagos.
Goodday informed the court that a wedding ring and the gold jewellery worth N1.6million belonging to Mrs. Zainab Okwuosa, the complainant, missed after the suspect finished sanitizing her room.
The prosecutor revealed that the case has reported to police officers, and the suspect arrested.
He also revealed that the offence was a contravention of Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The suspect has, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mr. M. A Adegbaye, the Magistrate, has grant the suspect bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate has adjourned the matter until October 12 for mention.
