House of Reps announce annual recess, to resume Sept 23

The House of Representatives has officially commenced its annual two-month recess, adjourning all plenary sessions until Tuesday, September 23.

During the closing session on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen announced the decision, highlighting the significance of the break in the National Assembly’s legislative calendar.

“This customary break allows lawmakers to focus on constituency activities, oversight functions, and personal engagements,” Speaker Abbas mentioned, encouraging his fellow members to make the most of the time to reconnect with their constituents, address local concerns, and monitor ongoing federal projects in their areas.

The recess follows a notably productive legislative session, marked by significant achievements such as the approval of a $347 million loan for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and a telecom access initiative. Additionally, the House held special tributes in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
