Hon Owolabi berates youths for disobeying social distancing order
…says culprits will face govt wrath
as KWHA leader, Olawoyin, lauds colleague for good representation
The lawmaker representing Share/Oke-Ode constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Rasaq Owolabi, today, berated some youths for disobeying social distancing order promulgated by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to curb the spread of covid-19 pandemic.
The lawmaker, who is the chairman, House Committee on Health and Environment, condemned the act of sitting together to chat or playing games when he visited his constituency areas with his colleague, Honourable Abubakar Olawoyin, the House leader.
Owolabi, who doubles as member of the Technical Committee on Covid-19, however, threatened that whoever violates Kwara State government order again, will face the wrath of law
The lawmaker urged members of his constituency to adhere to government order of stay-at-home and social distancing adding that coronavirus doesn’t have drug, so it doesn’t have cure.
“Two patients of the pandemic at the Sobi specialist hospital have been discharged today, this is what we want, this is our prayers. We urged everyone to ensure they do the needful by washing their hands, use sanitizers and the likes.
“We need to understand that what is on ground, government alone cannot do it, the virus doesn’t know age, gender. HIV/AIDS was better then because it has ‘don’ts’, once one can adhere to the ‘don’ts’ one is save, but in the case of coronavirus, we don’t know where is coming from, this is why we said everyone should follow social distancing law,” Owolabi stressed.
Among places where the lawmakers toured to access the level of adherence to the government directive is his home town, Babalomo, Oke-Ode, Igbaja, Omupo among other places, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Earlier, the House leader, while speaking at the palace of Oba Usman Ayilara, the Lomo of Babalomo, commended his colleague for good representation.
He said the song on the lips of everyone in Babalomo community has confirmed that Owolabi has been representing them well ever since he was voted for.
“This community should be grateful to God for the kind of lawmaker they have at the House, he’s representing you well in all ways and we should be proud of that. The disease has no drug, so it has no cure, this is why everyone should stay under there roofs. We should also endeavour to take warm water frequently.
“Those who are most vulnerable to the virus are the aged one. Our Governor is not addressing this issue based on political party affiliations, he’s more of ensuring good governance. Today, Owolabi is not for All Progressives Congress (APC) along for everyone.
