Hardship: PDP, others guilty for failing to unite to retire APC, says Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stated that the opposition political parties, including the PDP, are guilty for failing to unite and form a coalition to retire the ruling APC and address the nation’s hardship.

In his Democracy Day message posted on X, Atiku emphasized the significance of democracy and reflected on the sacrifices made by notable patriots, including Basorun MKO Abiola, his wife Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Tafida Shehu Yar’Adua, and Alfred Rewane.

He acknowledged the achievement of 25 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria and praised the political class and civil society for their efforts in nurturing democracy.

However, Atiku criticized the current state of democracy in Nigeria, stating that it fails to deliver prosperity and liberty to the people.

He blamed the ruling APC for the past nine years of hardship, poverty, and insecurity but held the opposition parties more accountable for not uniting to present a viable alternative.

Atiku urged the opposition to recognize that Nigeria’s future depends on their cooperation and the formation of a united front to challenge the ruling party and offer good governance to Nigerians.
