Hardship: Kwara govt resumes subsidized transport programme
In a bid to cushion the effect of the federal government’s fuel subsidy removal and ease the nation’s hardship, the Kwara State Government has reintroduced the subsidized transport palliative programme through the State-owned Soludero buses.
Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at Soludero Park, Post Office, Ilorin, where the Soludero buses will be used for the new transport palliative programme.
Represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeoshun, the Commissioner added that this programme will drastically reduce road transportation fares along notable routes within the Ilorin metropolis for all categories of students, workers, and the public.
Hon. Damilola also reaffirmed that these State-owned Soludero buses will cushion the effects of transportation problems in the state.
The Commissioner noted that they will ply the following routes with passengers paying subsidized rates:
Post Office to Amayo through Ganmo: #200 (instead of #400)
Post Office to Eiyen-Korin through Oja-Garin Alimi: #300 (instead of #500)
Post-office to Oke-Ose through Oyun, Kwara Poly, and UITH: #300 (instead of #500).
The Commissioner, while enjoining the drivers to be dedicated to the assignment given to them, knowing well the unparalleled commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq towards cushioning the effects of the cost of transport fare on students, workers and the entire populace, added that this initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden on citizens and ensuring affordable transportation fares for all.
