Gunmen storm Kwara community, kidnap residents

Suspected kidnappers have invaded the Oluwalose community situated along Okolowo, Ilorin metropolis, Kwara state and reportedly kidnapped an unconfirmed number of residents.

Report has it that the suspected kidnappers, heavily armed invaded the community, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 and started shooting sporadically.

A source living in the community told newsmen that at least 15 persons, who included the chairman of the community, Mr. Buhari Tunde, were abducted by the gunmen.

The source added that the incident made those living at the affected location run for their own lives until operatives of the Operation Harmony tactical team appeared around 2:00am to lend security assistance.

The spokesperson of the state police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident, saying 2 men were kidnapped in the early morning incident.

The spokesperson said efforts were ongoing to rescue other victims.
