Gunmen kill Inspector, DPO in Zamfara community

Some gunmen who were suspected to be terrorists on Sunday took the life of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Maru, Zamfara State, SP Raheem Kazeem.

They also took the life of an Inspector of Police Rabiu Umar as they launched an attack on the Divisional headquarters.

Report has it that the incident occurred around 2am.

The suspected terrorists who were in large numbers invaded the station.

SP Kazeem, who was present at the station with few other police operatives, were reported to have stood against the terrorists and were ready to resist the invasion but they defeated by the gunmen.

They reportedly killed the DPO and the Inspector during the gun battle as the gunmen absconded with a service AK-47 rifle before reinforcement could reach the division.

The remains of the officers were evacuated to a public hospital for autopsy as the police operatives have increased efforts to arrest the suspects.
