Gunmen kill Imo House Of Assembly candidate
Christopher Eleghu, the candidate for Imo State House of Assembly (Onuimo Local Government Area) on the platform of the Labour Party, LP, has been killed by gunmen.
The spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, Mike Abattam has confirmed the incident.
He said the incident occurred on Friday at residence of the deceased victim in the Umucheke community.
The spokesman narrated that the gunmen set his house on fire, after killing the politician.
He added that they also set on fire his vehicle and other valuable items.
He further said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mohammed Barde, has directed an investigation into the tragedy.
The CP according to the spokesperson has directed police operatives to look for the suspected assassins for possible arrest.
