Gunmen kill councillor, boutique owner, his sales girl and customer in Sapele
Some gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a councillor, Bigha Grikpa and 3 other persons in Sapele town, Delta State.
Grikpa, was gunned down by gunmen who invaded the town, Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Among other victims were Mathew Ekiopa, who owned a boutique at Lexi Junction, and his sales representative simply known as Blessing.
They were gunned down right in front of the shop.
Alhaji Bello, a businessperson, who’s the fourth victim was reportedly buying something at the boutique when the gunmen launched the attack.
A resident of the affected scene, Khalil Samuel, has taken to social media (Facebook) to lament the growing rate of killings in the town.
“Four people were killed in Sapele this (Wednesday) morning. Sapele needs serious intervention,” he said.
He has implored the government to take drastic steps on the situation, reemphasizing that the killings are “totally unacceptable.
Daniel Mayuku, a former member of the state House of Assembly, said: “I know this very calm and respectful councillor. What is his offence?”
One Alagba Rashidi, a UK based Nigerian has posted the photo of Grikpa, saying that the deceased was not a member of the cult.
“I know you’re not a cultist and will never do anything that will hurt anybody!!!This is why I am crying, I celebrated you when you were chosen by your people to be a councilor!! A peaceful man I used to know in Oguanja!!! We are not use to killing ourselves in Sapele before now o God!! Since wen did people made money to make the town uncomfortable for everyone. God can you hold all this leaders accountable for this deaths are becoming too much,” he wrote.
