Suspected gunmen, on Monday night, kidnapped Chief Alhaji Umaru Abubakar Nyala, a second-class chief in Pupule, Taraba State, his pregnant wife and 15 others at Pupule town in Yorro Local Government Area of the state.
The Informant247 gathered that the gunmen, numbering over 20, invaded the palace of the Chief of Kwaji at Pupule at midnight and abducted Nyala, his pregnant wife and son, adding that the gunmen abducted the orderly of the monarch and 12 people inside the town.
It was also learnt that the gunmen, after abducting the second-class chief and his family members, also abducted many people inside the town.
A resident said, “We heard sound of heavy gunshots inside the palace, and we ran away from our houses, only to hear in the morning that our chief and his family members and other people inside the town were kidnapped.”
It was further gathered that this was the third time the gunmen attacked Pupule town, which is the headquarters of Kwaji Chiefdom.
Police spokesperson SP Usman Abdullahi confirmed the abduction of the second-class chief and, his family members and other people in the town.
“It is confirmed that the chief of Kwaji chiefdom and his family members were abducted,” Abdullahi stated.
