Gunmen attack market, set police vehicle on fire while trying to enforce sit-at-home order
A market in Enugu State was reportedly attacked by some unknown gunmen, Saturday morning.
The attack was reportedly carried out to make people obey the purported 5-day sit-at-home directive.
Reports have it that the unknown gunmen have burnt down a police patrol vehicle in the affected area.
The incident has been confirmed by newsmen.
It was also gathered that no casualty was recorded in the attack.
It was revealed that the unknown gunmen who were up to 10 invaded the market early in the morning.
The hoodlums who might intend to close down the market, suddenly met police officers on duty and thereafter launched attack on them.
One of the persons who witnessed the scenario, Mike Ezeh said: “I saw a group of boys around 6 am this morning shouting on traders coming to market to go home. They were shouting; don’t you know there’s sit-at-home? Why are you disobeying it?
“Shortly, I saw a police patrol vehicle coming and immediately, they engaged them in shootout. I left my goods ran to safety. After the shooting stopped, I came out and saw they had set ablaze the police patrol vehicle in front of the Colliery hospital.”
