Gunmen Abduct Former Bauchi State Assembly Leader

Unidentified gunmen on Thursday abducted Hon. Abdulmumin Ningi, a top politician and former majority leader of the 8th Bauchi State House of Assembly, the police and other sources confirmed.

A source told HumAngle that the politician was abducted close to his residence in Bauchi town.

Confirming the incident, Ahmed Wakili, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, said the kidnappers abducted Ningi at Isa Yuguda Guest House in Bauchi.

“Yes, a former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly who represented Ningi Constituency was kidnapped on Thursday at about 8 p.m. within Bauchi metropolis,” the officer said.

He said, “information has it that he was trailed by his abductors who were said to be four in number in a gold colour car with which they trailed him from where he was coming from to his house around the BSADP area at Isa Yuguda Guest House.”

According to him, the kidnappers have yet to communicate with the family of their victim but the police are investigating the incident.

This was not the first time a lawmaker in Bauchi State was attacked by gunmen.

In August, last year gunmen killed a lawmaker in the state, Musa Mante, and abducted his two wives and a daughter at his residence.

The gunmen were however arrested after some police investigations.
