Guardiola blames ‘old trafford factor’ for City’s defeat
Pep Guardiola believes that Manchester United’s controversial equaliser in their 2-1 Premier League win on Saturday was not deserving.
Speaking after the game, the Spaniard expressed his disappointment at the circumstances of the Bruno Fernandes goal, noting that the goal was awarded under the influence of Old Trafford.
A furious Guardiola insinuated that the goal wouldn’t have counted if the match had been played elsewhere.
While Jack Grealish sent City to lead on the hour mark, yet United drew level in controversial version in 78 minutes when
Fernandes curled home past Ederson as Marcus Rashford, who was in an offside position, ran onto the pass but did not touch the ball.
The goal was eventually deemed valid with the initial offside decision being overruled by VAR. The hosts would later seal a maximum point four minutes later when Rashford turned home from close range.
“Marcus Rashford is offside, Bruno Fernandes is not,” he told BBC’s Match of the Day.
“Rashford distracted our keeper and central defenders. It is what it is. We know where we play. It is difficult for the referees in these stadiums”. He said
