Guardiola accuses rival clubs of conspiracy, says City have good Lawyers

Pep Guardiola has accused other Premier league clubs of conspiring against the team in the wake of their alleged financial breaches.

The Premier League charged City with 101 alleged breaches of financial regulations earlier on Monday.

After the charges which is related to a nine-year period from 2009 were announced, the league has  consequently referred the findings to an independent commission.

Speaking on Friday, Guardiola noted that some clubs are bent on seeing Manchester City in the league.

Some  Premier league clubs have recently backed the commission of inquiry and also suggest the right punishment for the team if they are found guilty.

“Of course – it is the Premier League. I don’t know why. You have to ask the CEOs, Daniel Levy, these kinds of people” he said when he was asked if other clubs had been pushing the matter”

He referred to the conduct of certain clubs during the process that saw City initially banned by UEFA for two years for breaching the financial fair play regulations. The judgement was later overturned following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.

“Nine teams – Burnley, Wolves, Leicester, Newcastle, Spurs, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea – (wrote a letter wanting us) out of the Champions League, that they wanted that position.” He noted

“It’s not an unprecedented story, it’s the second time. We lived that before, two or three years ago.

“You accuse us – we should be out, but between those nine teams before and the 19 teams now, between their word and the word of my people, I’m sorry but I rely on the words of my people”

While expressing his belief that the club will be vindicated at the end, he added that the club also relies on good Lawyers in the process.

“We are lucky we live in a country where everyone is innocent until proven guilty. It seems like we have been sentenced already.

“What is going to happen, I don’t know. We have good lawyers and I know we are going to defend our position.”

Manchester City has contracted Lord Pannick KC to defend the club against the allegations of financial impropriety
