PDP convention to hold Saturday, Sunday as court strikes out Secondus’ suit

The Kwara State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the ‘Governor of the Year award’ conferred on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as an endorsement of failure and incompetence, saying the governor had done nothing to merit such award.

The main opposition party, in a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, said it was surprised that “a Governor whose administration has been heavily criticised for ineptitude, nepotism, insensitivity, corruption, flagrant abuse of power, disregard for rule of law, and brazen violation of human rights was considered for the award”.

“The award was another face-saving attempt and political damage control by Governor Abdulrazaq. It also offends the sensibilities of Kwarans who have lost hope and confidence in the APC-led administration due to the Governor’s poor performance in office,” the statement partly reads.

The party added that no amount of solicited awards and endorsements could change the fact that the Governor was a ‘complete failure’.
