Gov. AbdulRazaq urged to rename Kwara Stadium after Rashidi Yekini

President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has advocated the immortalisation of the late Super Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini for giving his all while serving his fatherland in the green-white-green colours.

The NFF boss however, on Thursday made this call during the inauguration of the newly-built sports facility, ‘Football House’ by Kwara State Government.

In his speech, he appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to rename the Kwara State Stadium Complex after the late football legend, who hailed from state.

The just-inaugurated facility is said to be the first Football House in the country.

The Governor, however, assured that Rashidi’s selfless contributions to his country will be rewarded.

He said: “Also we have not forgotten Rashidi Yekini, so we also look forward to getting something good to immortalise him,” AbdulRazaq added.

Also, AbdulRazaq has renamed the just-inaugurated sport facility after the Wali of Ilorin, Alhaji Usman Mustapha.

The infrastructure is aimed at accelerating the development of sporting activities in the state

He said, the honour was in recognition of his giant legacies in the state.

“The second is about rewarding good legacies. I have been briefed that this facility is to be renamed after the Wali of Ilorin, Alhaji Usman Mustapha. I believe this is befitting.”

The Governor further announced the reopening of non-contact sporting activities in the state, reiterating his commitment to rejuvenate moribund sport infrastructures to create enabling atmosphere for gifted youths in the stat
