Gov. AbdulRazaq approves 100% FG salary structures for Kwara doctors

The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRahman has approved 100% CONMESS 2 for entry level medical officers, bringing the state at par with the salary structure of the federal government.

It would be recalled that the doctors who work at the state hospital recently embarked on strike demanding for upward review of their salary, following the strike action, the Governor has took a giant step to adopt the 100% CONMESS 2 for entry level medical officers.

Multiple sources from the Kwara State Ministry of Health revealed that the approval of 100% of CONMESS 2, which is the same structure for medical doctors just entering the civil service, will go a long to halt the trend of doctors not wanting to work in the state.

A medical doctor said, “By this, Kwara is now paying the same salary structure for entry level medical officers. It is a big deal for Kwara indeed.”

It was gathered that the implementation of the new CONMESS has started since November, 2021.

Another source disclosed that the new table adopted for other senior cadres is “equally very competitive and it shows that the state is now ready to retain its doctors, unlike before. I can confirm that none of the cadres (CONMESS 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) got below 70% of the Federal table passed down to the state. This is a great improvement indeed and we are happy about it.”

It was learnt that the state government is working round the clock to review the salary scale for other medical workers and other categories of workers.

“We understand that the Governor has set up a small team of bureaucrats and professionals to consider these issues one after the other. He is only calling for more cooperation and understanding from the workers who he often praised for their support for his administration,” an inside source stated.
