Goods destroyed as fire guts shops in Ilorin
A fire outbreak in the early hours of Wenesday razed shops at Isale Aluko in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
The fire which destroyed two shops at 103, Oba Mama Road, Isale Aluko Junction was suspected to be caused by an electric spark, according to information gathered at the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara Fire spokesperson, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle said the agency received a turnout call around 07:06hrs, which prompted them to swing into action and curtail the spread of the inferno to the surrounding buildings.
Adekunle said, “Out of the nine shops in the affected building, only two shops were seriously affected; A frozen shop, and the other one was a printing shop.
“We urge the general public to always switch off their electrical appliances whenever they want to leave their various shops as to prevent similar future occurrences.”
