Gombe govt to procure gas-powered vehicles for public transportation
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has announced plans to introduce gas-powered vehicles for public transportation to alleviate the challenges faced by the people due to the removal of fuel subsidies.
He made this announcement in his message commemorating the 63rd independence anniversary and the 27th anniversary of the state’s creation.
Governor Yahaya acknowledged that the removal of fuel subsidies had led to rising inflation and economic hardship among the people.
To address this, his administration has approved a transport allowance of N10,000 for all state workers, pending the determination of a new minimum wage.
Additionally, the government has initiated a food distribution program targeting 400,000 beneficiaries as part of its palliative assistance efforts.
Reflecting on the state’s progress over the past 27 years, Governor Yahaya highlighted advancements in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, job creation, civil service reforms, water resources, and environmental sanitation.
He pledged to continue investing in education, healthcare, robust infrastructure, and employment generation to empower the youth, connect communities, and enhance the well-being of the people.
Governor Yahaya commended the founding fathers of the state and recognized the pivotal role played by the people of Gombe in achieving the state’s development milestones.
He emphasized that the state’s progress was a collective effort and expressed optimism about its future.
