Gobir hails Emir of Ilorin, donates N2.5million to Emirate Palliative Fund
The Waziri Hausa of Ilorin, Waziri Yakubu Gobir on Monday commended the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR, for constituting the Emirate palliative committee to oversee the raising and distributing of relief items to families affected by the coronavirus lockdown within Ilorin metropolis.
Recall that the Gobir foundation had distributed food items worth 20 Million Naira to residents of Kwara State earlier this month.
In a statement sent to THE INFORMANT247, he said “It is imperative to support our respected Emir, on this brilliant initiative, particularly because the holy month of Ramadan and obligatory fasting will start in a few days.”
He further enjoined other wealthy individuals to also contribute to minimize the effect of the lockdown on residents.
He noted that the role of Traditional Institutions and Traditional Rulers can never be over emphasized, saying they are the closest to the people, thus, they know how best to assist them.
He applauded the Emir, for the kind gesture and prayed that Almighty Allah should reward him abundantly, and grant him longlife and the strength to continue to move the entire Emirate forward.
Gobir consequently prayed, “May the Almighty Allah accept our supplications in the month of Ramadan, forgive us, and save us from the scourge of the COVID – 19 virus.”
