Fuel subsidy: NLC, TUC meeting FG in Abuja
Following the announcement of a new pump for petrol by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union of Nigeria are in a meeting with the Federal Government’s representatives at the Conference Hall of the office of the Chief of Staff, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The organised labour is led by the NLC President, Joe Ajaero and his TUC counterpart, Festus Osifo.
It was learned that the former NLC President and immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Foldable Yemi-Esan, the Group Chief Executive Officer, of the NNPCL, Mele Kyari, are present.
It could be recalled that the NLC, on Wednesday evening, kicked against the discontinuance of petroleum subsidy and the recent price hike.
Fuel subsidy: NNPC confirms petrol price increment
The adjusted pump prices of the Petroleum Motor Spirit popularly known as Petrol across all the state including FCT have been confirmed by the Nigerian National Petrol Company Limited (NNPCL).
The confirmation was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Garba Deen Muhammad, saying that the adjusted pump price was in line with “current market realities”.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that oil marketers confirmed the hike in the pump price of petrol to over N500 per litre depending on the location of purchase.
According to a document that allegedly emanated from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, which contained figures that were described as the “Current NNPC Pump Price”, and “New Pump Price Per May 31, 2023,” of petrol, showed the latest pump price of PMS in all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
It was learned that the figures in the document indicated that the prices in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and Ekiti were outlined as N488 per litre, N537 per litre, N520 per litre, and N500 per litre respectively, while the cost of petrol in Borno State was put at N557 per litre.
However, NNPCL, while confirming the development, said it adjusted the pump prices of PMS across its retail outlets in line with current market realities.
