Some hoodlums on Friday attacked motorists in some areas on the popular Lagos-Ikorodu expressway in Lagos State to protest the scarcity of the new naira notes.
It was gathered that the protesters took to the roads in Mile 12, Ketu and Ojota areas on the expressway, attacking commuters and creating chaos.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.
Tweeps alleged they could hear sounds of gunshots.
He tweeted in response to a tweep: “It is true. Our men are there. Reinforcement units have been deployed. Stay safe out there as we closely monitor and manage the situation.”
