FRSC partners Enugu Transport ministry to reduce road accidents
To further reduce road crashes in Enugu State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has hinted that it will work out ‘a robust partnership’ with the State Ministry of Transport.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC, Enugu State Command, Mr Joseph Toby, disclosed this during his courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Ogbonna Idike, on Thursday in Enugu.
Toby noted that the two organizations needed to work harmoniously to make life easier for motorists and other road users in the state.
“We have come a long way in our relationship and collaboration over the years.
“However, my visit here is to further synergise and deepen the partnership in terms of easing traffic within the state.
“We are also going to work with this ministry and its traffic control arm on evacuation of broken down vehicles and ensuring that motorists abide by road rules and regulation,” he said.
Responding, Idike said that the ministry is particularly concerned on synergising in the area of training and re-training of its Enugu State Traffic Management Agency (ESTMA) officers.
“The ministry believes that such training and re-training of ESTMA officials would ensure professionalism as well as improve quality service delivery to the people of the state.
“We are also looking at robust collaboration in other traffic programmes within the state,” he said.
The permanent secretary thanked Toby and his principal officers for coming to the ministry notwithstanding their tight official schedules.
