Four dead, others injured in Kwara auto-crash
No fewer than four persons died while others sustained injuries in an accident, which occurred at Kanbi-Oloru express road on Friday.
Confirming the accident, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle told our correspondent in Ilorin that four persons including a baby boy died on spot.
Hakeem said an 18-seater bus which was conveying passengers, due to the heavy downpour that affected its windscreen, lost control and somersaulted.
He said, “It involved an eighteen passengers bus, that was moving alone at a very high speed, which suddenly lost control and tumbled down the road, due to the cloudy weather condition and heavy rainstorm which had blocked the driver’s view at the wind screen.”
Meanwhile, there was another crash on same day at the express road. It was learnt that two vehicles had a head-on collision.
However, Hakeem said no casualties were recorded.
“The second one was a serious head-on collision between a fully loaded petrol tanker with unknown Reg No. and a Sharron bus with Reg No. KRD265DK. No casualties were recorded because they were quickly rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for proper treatment,” he said.
