Kwara: Fire razes residential building, Tanke in Ilorin
A building of three rooms flat has been gutted by fire in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred on Tuesday, was attributed to an electrical power surge.
The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the incident happened at 35B, Akorede street, Tanke in Ilorin.
He said the inferno, which completely destroyed the building and many valuable properties, was put out by the efforts of the fire service, thereby preventing it from spreading to other buildings.
Adekunle said the fire brigade arrived at the scene of the incident promptly.
He added, “Unfortunately, on getting to the scene, the raging fire had already engulfed the whole building as a result of late call.
“But, thankfully we (were able to) eliminate the fire on time and prevented it from further spreading to other buildings within the area.
“Based on the information gathered, the cause of the incident was as a result of careless attitude that was put up by one the dwellers of the burnt building, by leaving one electrical appliance “on” and unattended to thereby caused the inferno.”
