Fire outbreak destroys building in Ilorin

A fire outbreak on Tuesday destroyed one room of a four-bedroom flat at Temidire Community, Upper Gaa-Akanbi Area, Ilorin.

The fire, which started at about 4 pm, was contained by the men of the Kwara State Fire Service, who swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the incident.

According to a statement by Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity Secretary, the firefighters were able to contain the fire while also preventing it from spreading to other rooms and nearby buildings.

It was gathered that the fire resulted from spontaneous ignition, which escalated and led to the destruction of the room.

The statement added that the director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, while commending the firefighters for their professionalism, urged the public to prioritise good housekeeping practices to prevent fire outbreaks.
