A filing station simply identified as MM filing station, located at Alagbado, Ilorin, Kwara State has been gutted by fire in the midnight of Saturday.
The Informant247 gathered that the fire outbreak, which started around 10pm, burnt down the station tanker and the house close to the filing station, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
However, men of fire service got to the scene of the incident and were able to quench the fire after spending hours battling it.
No casualty was recorded as the residents in the area fled for safety when the fire started.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, visited the scene of the incident to oversee the level of damages caused and to sympathize with the residents of the area, while assuring them of adequate safety.
The HoD, media and publicity of the Kwara State fire service in a statement revealed that operatives of the fire service were present as at 22:05hrs (10:05pm) at the affected scene, following a distress call made to them by one Mr. Kamaldeen.
The statement added that the firemen were able to put out the fire on time and also prevent the burning tanker from affecting the filling stations and building in the area, adding that no live was lost in the accident.
The report says, the accident was triggered by mechanical problem in the petrol tanker.
Therefore, the Director Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa urged the general public to be careful, and the filling stations to procure all the necessary safety equipments at their various stations.
