Fire consumes goods worth over N10m in Aba
Fire on Friday razed 4 motor spare parts stores, destroying goods worth millions of naira in Aba.
It was gathered that only few steel products were spared by the inferno.
The fire razed some shops located at No. 65 Jubilee Road in Aba.
One of the shop owners, Mr Chimezie Dike, lamented that 2 of his stores were burnt.
“I don’t know how the fire got there because there is no electricity connection to the shops.
“I was in my house at about 1:30 am when I got a call to come to Jubilee Road Spare Parts Market where I have shops, because the shops were on fire.
“By the time I got here, I saw that the fire which had become intense had gutted one of my shops and was consuming the second one.
“It also consumed two shops of my neighbours. People came to help, the Aba Fire Service also came and helped to douse the fire,” he added.
He said fire gutted goods worth N4 million, while a shop owner who’s close to him lost assets worth less than N2 million.
Uchechukwu Ezenwa, another business owner who suffered loss said fire consumed his goods valued at N5 million.
They both called on the government and the people of Nigeria to come to their rescue.
The fire incident was confirmed by the Commander of Fire Service in Aba, Mr Belenta Belenta, to newsmen, affirming that they quickly intervened in order to extinguish the fire.
