FIFA Communication Director reveals identity as a ‘gay’
Bryan Swanson,FIFA Communication Director has announced that he is a gay.
Swanson, who was described as FIFA President’s confidant by made the announcement at the end of Infantino’s press conference on Friday.
His comments is seen as a message of ‘intent’ in the face of a growing controversy around Qatar’s strict rules against homosexuality and the LGBTQ + community.
“I have spent some time at Gianni’s side working alongside Infantino and I have always felt supported and helped, I am gay as are many other colleagues at FIFA and I have always felt supported,” he said at the press conference.
“I am sitting here in a privileged position on a global stage as a gay man here in Qatar. Just because Gianni Infantino is not gay, does not mean he does not care. He does care.”
Swanson, a Scottish journalist worked at SkySports for many years before joining FIFA in 2021.
