FG urged to award Ilorin-Kabba road contract to Dangote
The Federal Government has been urged to reach an agreement with Dangote Cement to fix the Kabba–Ilorin road while granting the company a tax waiver.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Sunday Karimi, who represented Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State at the House between 2011 and 2019, making the appeal, noted that although the contract for phases 1 and 2 of the road had earlier been awarded to CGC in 2014 and 2016, respectively, the construction had been frustrated by lack of adequate funding through the annual budgeting process.
The ex-House member called for termination of the contract through a mutual agreement.
He said this would enable the government to enter into a new agreement with Dangote Cement for the reconstruction of the road, using the same method as was done to the Obajana–Kabba road in Kogi State.
Karimi decried the untold hardships faced by motorists on the road, which he described unbearable.
