Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set up N100 billion in the 2024 budget for school feeding projects.

The Informant247 gathered that the President made the declaration during the signing of the N28.78trn 2024 ‘Budget of Renewed Hope’ into law at the State House in Abuja while emphasising that the provision was aimed at incentivising school attendance and addressing the issue of out-of-school children, as well as to encourage student involvement in educational institutions.

“One of the priorities of the bill we just passed is the N100 billion provision for school feeding. That, I believe, is a stimulant that will boost school enrollment while also addressing childhood malnutrition.

“I’ll be meeting with local governments at the sub-national levels so that we can collaborate and jointly implement an all-inclusive program,” the President said.

Tinubu had signed an order in December directing the relocation of the school feeding initiative from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry.

Previously suspended during the reign of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the programme will now be run by the Education Ministry.
