The Federal Government has told the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Isah Jere, to retire from service.

This was revealed in a letter dated April 17, 2023 from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board.

The letter sent to the NIS boss, ordered him to relinquish his authority to the most senior person in the service.

This came following the allegation that the NIS boss was trying to seek an extension in his tenure.

The NIS chief extended his retirement for one year, from April 2022 to April 24, 2023.

The federal government has received threat from some officers of the service who are willing to embark on a protest should the tenure of the NIS principal is extended again.

The federal government in a signed letter by the acting secretary of the board, ordered him to “hand over to the most senior Officer Deputy Comptroller General on or before Monday 24th April 2023, pending Mr. President’s appointment of a substantive Comptroller General of the Service.”

Aregbesola confirms appointment of new CDCFIB Secretary

Ja’afaru Ahmed has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

The Chairman of the Board, who doubles as the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola confirmed the appointment of Ahmed in a statement released on Monday April 10.

The Informant247 learned that Ahmed is to replace the late Mrs Aisha Ahmad Rufai.

Mrs Ahmad Rufai was the secretary of the board until her death in March 20, 2023.

Born on 21st July 1959, in Jega Local Government of Kebbi State, North Western part of Nigeria, Ja’afaru Ahmed was the immediate past Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS).
