Federation Cup: rivalry renewed as Rangers take on Bendel Insurance in final
Enugu Rangers and Bendel Insurance will be renewing their rivalry when they face off in the final of this year’s federation Cup.
While Rangers, who are six time champions defeated Plateau United 1-0 in a semi-final encounter at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, the second semi-final match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos saw Bendel Insurance edging pass Warri Wolves 4-2 on penalties after goalless draw in the regulation to book a place in the final berth.
Rangers will be hoping to win their first Federation Cup since 2018, while Insurance will be looking forward to winning a domestic double this season in a repeat of the 1978 final.
In 1978, Insurance who are unbeaten in all competitions this season defeated Rangers 3-0 in the federation cup final.
The date of this year’s FA Cup final is expected to be announced soon by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
