Ex-ADC presidential candidate Kachikwu has no say in party’s leadership – Bolaji Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has asserted that Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, does not hold any influence in the party’s leadership structure.

During an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC’s interim publicity secretary, emphasized that Kachikwu is no longer a member of the party.

Kachikwu had previously criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognizing David Mark as the national chairman of the ADC, terming INEC’s decision as “irresponsible” and expressing a lack of faith in the current electoral leadership.

In response to Kachikwu’s remarks regarding the ADC’s leadership, Abdullahi stated, “He (Kachikwu) had no business in this conversation. He is not even a member of the ADC. A one-time presidential candidate of any party does not own the party. He does not have a say in the direction of the party.”

Abdullahi further admonished Kachikwu for his “divisive rhetoric” and his description of the party leadership as “old people.” He underscored the party’s awareness of the challenges faced by the ADC coalition from opposing forces aiming to destabilize opposition parties.
