Enugu, Delta announce resumption dates
The Enugu and Delta States Government on Wednesday announced resumption date for primary and secondary schools.
The Enugu Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eze, made this disclosure in a statement, he said the decision was made after the approval by the state Governor and other educational stakeholders in the state.
He advised teachers, students, and pupils, to ensure that they abide by the approved guidelines on COVID-19, stressing that “no person will be allowed into any school without appropriate face mask/shield.”
Eze said, “Primary Six and Junior Secondary 3 students have completed their examinations and are not expected to be back to school.”
Meanwhile, the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa approved the reopening of primary and secondary schools in the state for the conclusion of the 2019/2020 academic session.
He said the decision was to enable the commencement of the 2020/2021 new academic session.
A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, on Wednesday in Asaba, indicated that secondary school students in JSS 1, JSS 2, SS 1, and SS 2 would resume from Monday, September 28, 2020, to Friday, October 9, 2020, to enable them to write their second term exams in order for schools to be able to conclude the 2019/2020 academic session.
“Boarders are expected to resume on Sunday, September 27, 2020. Also, primary school pupils in Primary 4 and Primary 5 yet to complete the second term examination will resume on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, to Friday, October 9, 2020,” the statement read in part.
The statement further stressed that second term examinations would be waived for pupils from Primaries 1 to 3.
