Emir of Ilorin names new Balogun Ajikobi

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Suleiman Omokayode Abdulwahab as the 13th Balogun Ajikobi of Ilorin Emirate.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued Friday night by the Emir’s Personal Assistant, Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala.

Alhaji Suleiman succeeds the late Alhaji Isiaka Yusuf Okunrinjeje, the 12th Balogun Ajikobi, who passed away on February 23, 2025.

Before his elevation, Alhaji Suleiman had served as the District Head of Ipaye, a role he assumed on May 10, 2019. According to the statement, he will continue to oversee the district’s affairs in a transitional capacity until a new District Head is appointed.

The Emir prayed for the new Balogun’s success, wishing him long life, sound health, and the wisdom to discharge his duties effectively.
