The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that its Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, is not involved in the politics of Lagos State, especially as regards the governorship election scheduled for March 18 2023.

This came as a reaction to a newspaper report titled: “Emefiele launches fresh plot against the president-elect, Tinubu.’’
The newspaper reported that the CBN boss gave money to a Lagos State governorship candidate to cause the downfall of the president-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu in the state.
The CBN declared that the claim was malicious and false as the the story is completely false and malicious as the CBN chief has never had encounter with the said governorship candidate.
“We wish to reiterate that the CBN governor does not take part in politics, and therefore, urge anyone with contrary information to provide them,’’ he stated.
He implored political actors not to distract the apex bank, and they should allow it perform its statutory mandate.
