El-Rufai should answer questions over banditry allegations, says Datti Baba-Ahmed

The 2023 Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has called for an investigation into former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s claims that the Federal Government is financially compensating bandits.

During an appearance on the Channels Television program Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed criticized the response from the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, asserting that it lacked seriousness. He remarked, “If the so-called office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, would take this statement with levity, then Nuhu Ribadu was never a policeman; he is not a qualified lawyer; he should not be in that office.”

Baba-Ahmed believes El-Rufai should be formally reporting his claims to the police and courts. El-Rufai had previously alleged that both the Federal Government and Kaduna State were engaging in a controversial “kiss-the-bandits” policy, paying a monthly allowance and providing food to bandits under the guise of non-kinetic measures.
